Check out a great example of the difference between bruises and post treatment Dry Cupping and IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation) marks š
š· On the Left is a 6 day old bruise from an elderly client falling over on their ribsā¦very painful (but not broken šš»)!
š· On the right is post treatment marks from Dry Cupping and IASTM 7 days on. The client (as do many others) reported no pain from the stagnated blood left under the skin. As unpleasant as they look, they are not bruises!
The difference is, bruises are the effect of injury or trauma to soft tissue (as above); whereas, Dry Cupping and IASTM marks are formed of stagnated blood that is remaining under the surface after treatment for the Lymphatic system to clear away. The two techniques are designed to draw blood to the surface for healing properties but depending on the area of the body, it can take longer to fade away.
I find large bruises fascinating to look at, sometimes in the acute stage they almost look like the sky during a thunder storm š©
